About this deal

This white wax is designed to work its way into the grain of the wood, highlighting its natural characteristics and giving a sense of depth and texture to the surface. This creates an interesting 'limed' or 'patinated' look, which is very effective on many mouldings, especially ash and ayous/obeche. dresser: The dresser was much darker and had a thicker veneer, so the stain was harder to take off and the outcome is more rustic.

Liming Paste is the same product, specially designed to whiten the base colour of the grain on bare wood. This is especially effective on hardwoods like limed Oak furniture but can also be used on some softwoods like Pine.

After almost nine months of successful collaboration, we're delighted to share some significant news with you. Fiddes Liming Wax is ideal for application on woods such as oak, or those which normally exhibit distinctive deep grain pattern. I used several coats to build up the effect and applied the clear polish from Fiddes to protect further. Unfortunately due to the nature of the products we are unable to refund or exchange personalised items.Sand the wooden substrate in stages, working with a medium sandpaper (120 grit), through to a medium / fine grade (180 –220 grit). These waxes don't crack or chip, there is no fading or yellowing, and they will keep protecting your finished piece for a long time.

My Ultimate Money Saving Planner is a comprehensive 36-page workbook chock-full of money-saving hacks! I remembered I had half a container of Citristrip furniture stripper and some liming wax in the garage leftover from our wine cooler project. Using your brush or coarse sandpaper, gently brush along the grain until the texture feels slightly rough. Perfect for DIYers and woodworking professionals, it’s a technique ideally used when you aim for a vintage or distressed look while preserving wood’s natural beauty. Always sand in the direction of the grain pattern where possible, ensuring the removal of any blemishes and glue residue prior to the application of Fiddes Supreme Liming Wax.Buff the Surface: Following the removal of excess product, buff the surface to reveal the beautiful, whitened grain. For a successful application of liming wax, you’ll need a few tools: a soft cloth or brush, sandpaper, wire brush, and protective gear or gloves. Led by the vision of founder and owner Nancy Burkhart, ESF is a small business committed to the creative spirit and dedicated to the safety, health, and quality of the individual and the Earth.

On application, Fiddes Liming Wax fills the open wood pores, offering contrasting white tone and emphasizing the grain across the whole surface area, typical of a traditional ‘Limed’ finish. A: I didn’t seal either project and haven’t had any problems, but I would if I were doing a dining room table or similar I would. Important: Always test product on a spare surface or inconspicuous area for colour, compatibility and end result.

The Best way to open the grain of the wood is by using a Liberon Bronze Liming Brush, always work in the direction of the grain and use a fair amount of pressure to lift the pores. After you have finished opening the grain, make sure you wear rubber gloves and use ultra-fine Liberon steel wool (0000) to apply the Liberon Liming wax. You may now need to apply another fine coat of stripper to wet the area again and then use a scraper to remove the first layer. Use a clean cotton cloth or brush to apply wax in a thin layer, working into recesses of carved details or surface imperfections.
